Optimisation of the physical link performance for ATM satellite user access

Investigates concatenated coding as a means of improving and optimising the satellite link performance in the user access to ATM networks. The burst error characteristics of satellite links and the ATM cell format are taken into account in the choice of appropriate coding schemes. The performance of different coding schemes are evaluated by means of simulations.
