Abstract
A new method was developed to evaluate absolute coronary flow using computer analysis of conventional coronary cineangiograms. The proposed method is based on the analysis of the mean brightness curve constructed for those parts of the image which present the coronary artery in motion. The measure of blood flow is the percent change of mean brightness of the coronary artery, normalized by change of the mean brightness of the whole image, in a unit of time which is the cardiac cycle or time after stopping the injection of contrast medium. The proposed method of absolute flow evaluation and its application to patients with X-syndrome is discussed.
