Abstract :
Waveguide side-wall coupling for RF guns is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. We model this aperture-coupling problem by an integral equation which is solved by the method of moments. The analysis yields an equivalent circuit representation of the system. Of the two normal modes of cavity resonance, the /spl pi/-mode and 0-mode, we show that only the /spl pi/-mode is excited. Experimental results show good agreement with theory.
