Abstract :
Design issues related to statistically matched wavelet design are discussed. It is shown that two-band PR-QMF schemes have energy compaction performance bounded by the respective performances of the 2/spl times/2 KLT and the 4/spl times/4 KLT. A novel waveform matched wavelet design technique has been advanced and compared with the so-called Frazier-Kumar (FK) design technique.
