Abstract
The rising number of base stations for cellular, automobile, and other mobile telephones is increasing the demand for telecommunications power supplies. Often these base stations are installed in confined spaces, because of which there are strong demands that power supplies are compact and lightweight. The described, recently developed, 48 V 50 A switching power supply unit for telecommunications has increased efficiency substantially over preexisting units through means such as an enhancement in the turnoff timing of switching elements to prevent the occurrence of surge voltage, and has in addition reduced size and weight.
