  • Abstract
It is known that the earthing of the MV networks neutral by resistance, although it has special advantages as related to other neutral systems, determines a higher number of short consumer disconnections, especially in the case of overhead networks. The advantages of earthing the neutral by resistance can be maintained entirely also in the case of MV overhead networks when applying the "shunt circuit-breaker" solution that makes it possible to reduce considerably the number of short interruptions determined by passing failures without interrupting the supply of the consumers connected to these networks. In the paper the authors make a short presentation of the "shunt circuit-breaker" solution and of the advantages obtained by its implementation, while presenting a series of synthetic data on the efficiency of using the solution, resulted from its operating under real operation conditions in a series of 110/20 kV substations: Eforie Nord under the management of SDFEE Constanta, Gaiesti under the management of SDFEE Targoviste and Lumina under the management of SDFEE Pitesti. The solution is to be implemented in the Mizil 110/20 kV substation under the management of SDFEE Ploiesti
