Abstract :
Several techniques for compensating the effects of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in optical fibers are available. In this paper, different PMD compensators and their utilization are reviewed and discussed A brief description of the PMD compensation method is given. The paper focuses on the comparison between electrical and optical compensation schemes in terms of their effectiveness and simplicity (and therefore cost)
