Abstract
A novel one-dimensional (1-D) photonic bandgap (PBG) structure for microstrip lines is proposed. This new circuit is consisting of cross-gaps and base-to-base triangles etched in the ground plane of microstrip line. The PBG structures were designed and fabricated with different dimensions. It has been shown that the stopband characteristics may be controlled by tuning the geometrical dimensions. Also, multiple-frequency-tuned PBG structure has been derived by increasing the geometrical dimension.
