Abstract
The interaction between light and matter can be enhanced in microcavities due to the modified coupling between the optical modes in the cavity and the active medium, e.g., quantum dots (QDs), therein. Furthermore, similar but spatially separated QDs within a single microcavity can be coupled by this approach. In order to increase or decrease the coupling of spatially separated quantum states with equal energy via the electromagnetic field, optical modes with different localization can be used.
