Abstract :
Gain switching characteristics of quantum well laser diode is described by simulating electrical equivalent circuit with SPICE. Effect of dc and rf currents on the pulsewidth of gain switched pulses are investigated. It is shown that optical pulses having durations of 25 psec can easily be generated by gain switching.
