Abstract :
This paper describes a network simulation tool working at a flow level basis. The tool, written in C++, was developed specially for the flow aware networking (FAN) architecture -it assumes fair queueing according to the priority fair queueing and priority deficit round robin algorithms. The simulator, called flow simulator (FS), was designed to be an efficient tool with modular structure, which allows for easy addition of new features (specially new routing algorithms). Comparison with the Network Simulator 2 (NS2) in the field of computation time shows the FS´ efficiency.
