Abstract :
In this paper is described one approach for fast online data logging, which can be useful in electrical drives. Proposed data logging system insures collection of large quantities of data, collected with fast sampling rate for a long period of time. The data logging is designed to use minimum of processor time and memory and also to be applicable to almost any DSP (digital signal processor). The data logger uses large external memory media, easily connected to the SPI (serial port interface) port of motor control DSP, allowing satisfying time resolution of data collected in the long monitoring period. This allows troubleshooting of not only short transitions. It can also help to investigate unwanted occasional glitches during the drive steady state of operation. The proposed external media based data monitoring approach is targeted to be used during the drive development stage, but it can also be useful during the drives exploitation phase for long data collection functions. Suggested equipment is tested on electrical drive and results are given in the paper.
