Abstract :
This paper focuses on the applicability of electromagnetic band gap structures in the domain of antennas to suppress surface waves if used as a substrate. For the simplicity monopole antenna together with grounding plane was studied and results of far field is simulated and compared. Far field pattern and the influence of gap selection is further studied. Convenience of both guiding and radiating bands for application in the domain of antenna structures to suppress side lobes is discussed.
