Abstract
The paper describes a mathematical model of a voltage source converter (VSC) which is controlled by an algorithm enabling optimal control with the use of current regulation. The term “optimal” means the fastest possible response or change of operating point of the VSC when operating with the maximal available magnitude of the output voltage vector. The control algorithm is derived in the α-β reference frame and simulated with the mathematical model of the VSC. The performance of the control algorithm is validated for reference current tracking considering the real VSC voltage restrictions.
