Abstract :
The main characteristics of High Definition Television are pointed out and their impact on cameras. Transition path from Standard Definition to High Definition cameras is explained. We have focused on the measurement of Horizontal static resolution to gain insight into the response of High Definition cameras to fine details in the picture. EBU Work group P/HDTP expressed the need to address on camera resolution. There is a difference in measured Horizontal static resolution between the cameras of different size and type of optical sensors with different number of pixels, but the difference is mostly between Broadcast and non Broadcast cameras.
