Title :
8-AM-TCM schemes for impulse noise channel

Abstract :
The problem of channel coding for an impulsive noise environment is addressed, where the impulse noise is modeled as a Cauchy-Gaussian mixture. Code design is based on the pairwise probability of error, from which it follows that Hamming distance is the main design criterion. Code performance is evaluated for maximum likelihood and several suboptimal metrics. Comparisons with some empirical results show close agreement supporting the validity of the adopted model and code design procedure.
