Abstract :
In this paper, the design of a system prototype for time- reversal based hyperthermia is presented. The system consists of 12 channels and operates in the frequency band 300-1000 MHz with the effective output power of 100 W. Each channel consist of an 8-bit phase shifter, an analog power amplifier and a directional coupler. The main purpose of this system is to validate the feasibility of the time reversal planning method by experiments on phantoms of biological tissues and animals. The system can be further used for treatment of humans if the present power amplifiers will be replaced by more powerful versions. In this study, we focused on antenna array design for the system. Three different arrangements has been considered: a configuration with 12 antennas placed in the single ring array and two different set-ups with two antenna rings containing six antennas in each ring.
