Abstract
In this paper, the exponentially damped sinusoidal signals are analyzed. The peaks of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) results are adopted to obtain the parameters. Simple algorithms for fast measurement and estimation of an unknown damping beside frequency are presented. The idea of the quotient interpolation for the two-point frequency estimation can be adopted also for the damping. The Hann window very efficiently reduce the systematic error in the case of a large damping independently of the coherency, but perform worse results at lower values of the damping and under `almost coherent conditions´.
