Abstract
We concentrated on the flashlamp pumped Pr:YAP laser, and on the basis of stable running pulsed laser oscillator at 747 nm and we used the electro-optical switch to generate, for the first time to our knowledge, stable giant pulses with an output peak power in the range of 100 kW. At first, Q-switched laser action for the resonator arrangement including the polarizer was investigated. At constant pumping energy and repetition rate, the system was optimized for single pulse generation by measuring giant pulse energy and width in dependence to the Pockels cell opening delay. Secondly, the laser action was also proved in the resonator arrangement without the polarizer.
