  • Abstract
A knowledge has been researched for a few decades by various scientists. The Knowledge-Creating Company from Nonaka and Takeuchi and their following papers became an essential reference for practitioners and academics interested in understanding how knowledge is shaped and how this knowledge can be applied to the company. In knowledge management literature great attention is paid to knowledge management processes, recently. Knowledge is seen as a strategic asset and a primary resource of the company´s competitive advantage. Distinction between tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge is analyzed in this article. Authors analyze the concepts of knowledge, knowledge management and knowledge-based theory of the firm. There is new suggested concept of knowledge potential that consists of tacit knowledge, explicit knowledge and synergy.
