Abstract :
In many cases designing or improving the parameters of electrical machines, including transformers, information on their parameters and behavior in different design stages is needed. This information is then processed via numerical models and if necessary leads to design decisions. In order to assess the influence of various quantities on the design decisions, in this paper two applications are considered: a classical electrical machine cooling system design based on the computation of the thermal resistance and a power transformer optimized design based on the calculation of the axial forces between the windings.
