Abstract
Based on a first-principles, physically-intuitive design approach, a novel resonance-tuned intensity modulators is proposed with optimal modulation efficiency and extinction, even for lossy modulation mechanisms, including higher-order designs cascadable on wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) signal waveguides.
