Abstract :
High availability is a renowned property of telecom systems. It is the ability to provide continuous and uninterrupted service regardless of hardware or software failures. Implementation of such property comes at great price in terms of time consumption and expenses. Nowadays such expensive practice is no longer acceptable and thus, we explored a possibility of using an open-source high availability solution for building of next generation telecom service. In this paper, we present a prototype system built using an open-source high availability solution, discuss the challenges we addressed and show relevant performance and availability characteristics.
