  • Abstract
A modular approach to synthesis and control of DES (discrete-event systems) is proposed and tested. The modules of flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) are modelled by place/transition Petri nets (P/T PN) and assembled in order to cooperate in the framework of subsystems of the global FMS. From system theory point of view PN models are understand to be subsystems (agents) of the global system (multi agent system). Both the author´s previous results and existing knowledge in the area of supervisory control are utilized on this way. The applicability of the approach is demonstrated by examples.
