An insight into challenges of software development in telecommunication´s domain

Market requirements and ever growing complexity of telecommunications´ systems are considerably influencing the ways in which new solutions are developed. In order to produce reliable software in short time, on the market with continuously changing requirements and with appearance of new competitors, the ways of working of telecom solutions providers necessarily need constant adaptations. This paper gives an insight into the ways of working that Ericsson Nikola Tesla Research and Development (R&D) center practices when developing software for modern telecommunication systems. Two areas are analyzed: Competence Management process and Software Development process. The paper is explaining in which way these two processes need to be adapted in order to overcome above-mentioned challenges.
