  • Abstract
In this paper we show an e-learning system that is offered following an E-learning-as-a-Service (EaaS) model. The e-learning system is based on the PoEML specification and it supports the instructional design and development of learning experiences in accordance with different pedagogical approaches. A main issue in this model is to enable the integration with third party systems. We adopt some interfaces proposed in recent standardization initiatives and provide middleware to facilitate the integration of the e-learning system with specific tools that can be used to complement the functionality provided by the system (e.g., simulators, games). This system is being developed in the context of a project whose purpose is to enable the combination of Web-based and IPTV learning experiences. This development will allow us to assess the EaaS model for the support of ubiquitous learning places.
