Oil spill detection in sar images using wavelets and morphology

Oil spills at sea surface can be found at nearby vessels due to clearing tanks while sailing or by accidents. Problem of oil spill detection is considered in the paper. The basis source for the detection is radar image. The proposed method combines wavelets and morphology. Preliminary research shows that any type of morphology structural element can be used for the purpose as long as it is not too big kernel.
