Abstract :
This paper deals with simulations of IEEE 802.11, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless local area networks. Simulations are focused on throughput of IBSS (Independent Basic Service Set) network from the following points of view: 1) medium access control (MAC) sublayer - comparison of two medium access control schemes: BASIC and RTS/CTS CSMA/CA; 2) physical layer (PHY) - comparison of modulation techniques of IEEE 802.11, 802.11b and 802.11g standards. Based on the obtained results, the paper shows advantages or drawbacks of using such schemes and modulation techniques.
