Abstract :
In this work a novel multi-harmonic DC-bias network is presented based on an Arbitrarily Width-Modulated Microstrip Line (AWMML), implemented in MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) technology, for its use in a submillimeter-wave harmonic self-oscillating mixer circuit, as an alternative for the DC-feeding coil. The arbitrary shape of the width-modulated microstrip line, implemented in MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) technology, is obtained by using multiple microstrip taper sections. The behaviour of the MMIC AWMML DC-bias network and the DC-feeding coil is compared at the frequency bands corresponding with the first, second and fourth harmonic component of the self-oscillating signal and with the frequency band of the input signal, where high-impedance is required.
