Abstract :
In this paper, we compare the performance of RTS/ CTS unicast against receiver-based routing (RBR) within our implementation of the T-MAC protocol and give guidelines how to configure the protocol parameters to achieve a highly reliable communication with reduced energy consumption. Using the accurate energy model integrated in our simulator, we have evaluated the performance of the RBR service and analysed the impact of different T-MAC parameters (listen time, receiver contention window), transceiver´s parameters (bitrate, switch time) and other factors such as collisions and retransmissions on the performance (active time, throughput and latency).
