Abstract :
Nowadays, the problem of water supply has increased due to the overpopulation, climate change and obsolete water facilities, where deteriorated pipes can origin most of the water leaks, actually, the problem is not the size of the leak as well, but the time to detect it. This paper presents the implementation of a system consisting of a set of actuators installed in the hydraulic facilities of a residence, to detect water leaks. The system called "Application for water leak detection (AIDA)" consists of a pressure sensor installed in the water reservoir, which is based on atmospheric pressure to obtain the actual volume of liquid. These data are sent to a microprocessor for its interpretation by a system that evaluates whether it is a water leak or is not, and if so, the system issues an alert via a short text message (SMS) sent to the user using a GSM modem connected to the circuit. The user can respond to the event ordering the closure of the main shutoff valve from your mobile phone from anywhere at any time.
