  • Abstract
It is increasingly being recognized that time is an important element in knowledge representaton in different domains including medicine (van Benthem J., 1988; Dean, 1987). In fact, in the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM) symposium (Kabakçıoglu, 1992a) many papers investigated time and medical reasoning and panel discussions also emphasized this. We believe that knowledge representation, reasoning and knowledge acquisition (leing) issues should be considered together in one unified and coherent framework. Following this philosophy in this papr we present a temporal kowledge representation, reasoning and leaing system within a production system famework for computerized Medical Information Systems. The approach will be demonstated with examples fm the medical domain.
