Abstract :
Biopolymers can be very effectively used in many contemporary applications. Modern means of processing biopolymers enable usage of them in new ways and situations which were previously dominated by conventional synthetic plastic materials. It is essential for further research and practical applications that we well know processes which are ongoing during the microwave processing. We present methodology specifically intended for examination and evaluation of effects of microwave processing of biopolymers in well defined electromagnetic field. In this paper we use microwave exposure system designed to meet all the requirements for visualization of the processing and we use results given by the visualization (i.e. video recording and/or captured pictures) to analyze progression and changes in the exposed samples using Matlab for image processing. In this paper we also present obtained results and propose future use of the system in industrial (and possibly medical) applications.
