Abstract
We present an implementation-independent methodology for measuring, analyzing, and comparing Distributed Virtual Environment (DVE) system performance. The methodology comprises of a process of requirements elicitation and their conversion into measurable objectives. The process for determining quality requirements for a DVE is discussed, with a focus on interaction-based scenario analysis. A measurement tool is introduced to provide the low-overhead, high-rate metric data required for measuring DVEs while running under simulation or production operations. An example measuring a DVE´s primary loop is presented.
