Abstract :
In this paper we present a general evaluation of image compression algorithms for European Student Moon Orbiter mission for acquiring lunar surface imagery. Evaluations were made on ten different images, processed into various image formats and later reviewed with several objective measurements. As a comparison Set-Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) algorithm and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) algorithm were also evaluated.
