Abstract
A new technique for generating the third derivative of an approximate replica of Gaussian pulses with good accuracy is proposed and investigated. The Gaussian function is first approximated with a waveform that results from the convolution of two triangles. The third derivative is composed of rectangular pulses with fixed amplitudes and is easy to generate using standard techniques. In order for the generated pulse to fit the spectral mask, an appropriate filter is needed.
