Abstract :
This paper presents a new efficient and highly scalable open-source development of a JPIP server, financed by the European Space Agency, that allows the streaming of large volumes of JPEG 2000 imagery. Although its was mainly designed with the aim to serve the Sun data generated by the recently launched NASA SDO observatory, its features can be very interesting for many other remote image/video browsing contexts. The results show that it is currently one of the best implementations of JPIP server, both in terms of demanded computing resources and quality of the reconstructions in the clients.
