Abstract :
Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in power systems have conventional methods for determining the amount of required operating reserves against load variations and generation outages. With the increase in penetration level of renewable energy resources, uncertainties in the power output of these types of power plants should also be considered by TSOs. Since the output of these types of power plants could not be estimated accurately, the reserve that should be kept for proper operation of power system could be determined with probabilistic approach. In this paper, standard deviation and Weibull distribution are used to estimate the amount of operating reserve required for wind power plants. Also, in order to investigate the effect of geographical distribution of wind power plants, the outputs of different wind power plants in different locations have been obtained.
