Abstract :
We investigate the possibility of remodulation of downstream 100 Gb/s signal into the upstream 10 Gb/s signal using multi-quantum well reflective semiconductor optical amplifier. Theoretical model used for analyzing carrier and photon dynamics in device takes into account forward and backward propagating amplified spontaneous emission noise. We present results for various downstream signal waveforms and different detector integrating times. The analysis shows that by increasing detection time, bit-error rate can be improved.
