Abstract :
This paper describes functional framework for generation of test streams for evaluating the performance of visual perceptual quality models. The paper proposes structure and system support for the realization of system, with a goal of creating streams which tend to represent variations in quality of video material distributed over IP networks. Quality can be impaired under several circumstances, such as artifacts resulting from encoding video material with some of the coding schemes, signal propagation through the transport medium and its interference with the environment. For the proposed functional framework basic structure and system support is developed, consisting of components for generating impaired, but also unimpaired multimedia streams in different formats and functional simulation of the entire chain of multimedia system to the point of displaying the content on the end-user devices.
