Abstract :
A microstrip rectangular patch antenna for wearable applications is presented. The antenna is suitable for GSM 1800 operated at 1710-1785 MHz and 1805-1880 MHz. This suggested antenna is designed as a 101.3 mm wide, 159.172 mm long and 1.524 mm thick structure that is optimized for performance on the human body. The antenna was tested with a human user wearing it. As the result of the characteristics measurements made in the anechoic chamber, the S11 parameter was shown to be -33 dB (-10 dB bandwidth: 34 MHz, center frequency: 1.79 GHz).
