Abstract :
Adoption of Web services delivered interoperability among different platforms. Nevertheless, a real contribution of service oriented systems is not only operability but powerful ways of inter and intra-corporative integration of autonomous IT systems. The most popular term, mentioned in this context, is - orchestration. Orchestration is a strongly supported mechanism which enables integration of component Web services into executable workflow processes. It uses XML based WS-BPEL language as a de-facto standard. This article inspects possible interaction patterns that are offered by WS-BPEL language and inspects different proposals for the development of WS-BPEL models. Most of them are based on model driven development where workflows are specified using languages with visual annotation or with higher level of abstraction which enable easier development or formal checking. Those models are afterwards automatically or semi-automatically translated into abstract and latter into executable WS-BPEL models.
