Abstract :
Research data related with the power that is wasted as stand-by power asserts that this power is at least 10% of all power consumption. To be able to compensate this power tens of power plants should produce power all around the World. This power is responsible for 1% of all carbon emission. Despite the fact that it is developed more efficient devices depends on technological improvements nowadays, the number of devices rises day to day. Home appliances, as their varieties and numbers increase, it becomes more important to protect them. Over voltage and over current may cause serious damages on electrical and electronic appliances. Most of the houses are generally protected by mechanical circuit breakers against over current and residual current circuit breakers to detect leakage currents but there is no protection against over voltages. Mechanical protecting devices have slow parts, so they may be insufficient in some cases. In this paper a complete system is proposed. It saves energy, by eliminating stand-by power, acts as a surge protector, circuit breaker and a residual current breaker. It performs faster than the conventional protecting devices. All features mentioned above are remote controlled and monitored via Internet.
