Abstract
The filters used for impulse noise suppression in still image processing systematically reduce the quality of the processed images. A new procedure for processing images corrupted by the impulse noise, presented in this paper, significantly increases the filtering quality. The idea is based on applying the filtering procedure to the most likely corrupted pixels only, thus avoiding degrading the quality of the uncorrupted parts of the image.
