Czech and Slovak speaking voice communicator based on PDA/Smartphone device for handicapped people

The paper describes the developed Czech and Slovak speaking electronic voice communicator based on a PDA/Smartphone device equipped with a larger touchscreen. For using by people with disability of fine motor skills the communicator, in addition, enables function control with the help of wirelessly connected external buttons. Communication is performed by playing of pre-prepared speech phrases in wave files, or the speech signal is immediately generated by the implemented text-to-speech system. This realization fulfills the condition of low-cost solution which is the most important option for handicapped people.
