Abstract
This paper investigates behavior of a sensorless rotor position estimator based on open-loop compensated voltage model of permanent magnet synchronous motor with surface mounted magnets on the rotor (PMSM). The influence of several parameters (such as stator inductance, resistance, voltage fluctuations in dc-link) is examined. The obtained results are supported by simulation and experimental data. The rotor position estimator is tested in both open-loop (sensored control mode) and closed loop (sensorless control mode).
