Abstract :
This paper presents two different geometries of the Faraday cell. Maximal cell dimensions are 1.5 cm/spl times/1.5 cm/spl times/5-10 /spl mu/m (thickness of fiber core diameter). Sensing material is CdTe and optimal working wavelength is /spl lambda//sub opt/=1 /spl mu/m. Path length traversed in the medium is increased by using the multiple reflection technique, in order to improve the sensitivity. Maximal path length must be less or equal to the optimal path length (1/sub opt/), that corresponds to maximal allowed attenuation inside the cell for the given measuring system. Results show that the minimal magnetic field that can be measured, with such a cell, is B=10/sup -6/ T.
