Abstract :
We present partial results originating from ongoing work on interpretation of a class of ophthalmological images, namely, the posterior capsule opacification (PCO) images acquired at St. Thomas´ Hospital, London, in order to monitor the state of a patient´s vision after cataract surgery. We concentrate on segmentation of the PCO images using novel tri-directional filters. We compare the results based on the density of edges and the directional variance operator.
