Abstract :
Power transmission lines are often used very inefficiently. A possible way to increase their effectiveness is the use of dynamic thermal rating, instead of the more common static rating. Dynamic thermal rating can be calculated from actual conductor load and ambient weather conditions using methodology described in IEEE Std. 738-2006. Main purpose of the presented study is to perform a sensitivity analysis of individual variables participating in dynamic thermal rating calculations. The effects of selected input variables on conductor current-carrying capacity and temperature are described as functional dependence using 2D plots. Individual parameters are then ranked according to their influence on the conductor thermal state.
