Abstract :
Biodegradable polymeric scaffolds have received considerable and increasing attention in the last past years due to their potential to be used in tissue engineering as a prosthetic material or cell adhesive substratum. This kind of material aims to repair or regenerate a tissue when it has been damaged through disease or trauma, providing a temporal structure to facilitate cellular infiltration and growth, provide similar mechanical properties and avoid mobility, immunocompatibility and secondary interventions. We work to synthesize a PLA scaffold with potential for bone regeneration produced by a salt leaching/gas foaming method and its respective morphological and mechanical characterization by techniques such as: swelling, compression assays, SEM and optical microscopy.
